Tanah-Karo, WahanaNews.co – The Regent of Karo, Cory Sriwaty Sebayang, received a discussion visit from the Center for Excellence in Science and Technology for Sustainable Tourism of Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) in the meeting room of the Karo Regent’s Office on Monday (18/3/2024).
This discussion was related to the research titled “Study on the Implementation of Sustainable Tourism in Merek, Karo, Indonesia,” which is currently being conducted by the Center for Excellence in Sustainable Tourism Technology at USU, and also served to introduce Prof. Sarah Gardiner.
In her remarks, the Regent of Karo welcomed the visit, stating that academic input is essential in developing the tourism sector, particularly through scientific studies.
“I hope that the team from USU together with the Griffith University Institute for Tourism Australia can provide recommendations regarding the development of tourism attractions in Karo, especially in Merek District,” she said.
The Regent also presented traditional Karo souvenirs to Prof. Sarah Gardiner, followed by a group photo session.
